2012 photographic safari - Africaraw

Etosha National Park

Carmine bee-eater lands on a branch at Caprivi strip, Namibia.
Biology Note:- This is a highly sociable species, gathering in large flocks. This group on the Zambesi river near Kalizo lodge had many hundreds of members. They repeatedly took to the air when alarmed by hunting kites or when they tried to catch insects. Despite the many oportunities to photograph them returning to their perches it was difficult to isolate an individual amongst the flurry of feathers.
